CategoryCDS Views for Handling Unit Management
Purpose
This CDS view retrieves information about packing instructions that are stored on packing instruction item level, and it establishes associations with related entities such as packing instruction headers and units of measure. A packing instruction item can be a material/product to be packed, a packaging material, a reference material, or a subordinate packing instruction. This CDS view provides the data to answer the following business questions: What are the components (items) of a specific packing instruction? What materials are associated with each packing instruction item? What are the quantities and unit of measure for each packing instruction item? To help you decide which CDS view to use for your purposes, SAP has introduced the annotation ObjectModel.supportedCapabilities that indicates the most appropriate use cases for each CDS view. To find out what use cases are best supported by this CDS view, access the entry of the CDS view in the View Browser app and find the values for this annotation under the Annotation tab. For more information, see Supported Capabilities for CDS Views .

Authorizations Users who want to use this CDS view must have a respective business catalog assigned, for example SAP_LO_BC_PI_MANAGE_PC .

Structure
Parameters The view does not have any parameters. Fields Used for Filtering All fields can be used for filtering. Further Important Fields Important fields in this view include the following: Field Name Description Material Material number of material/product to be packed or packaging material PackingInstructionItemCategory Packing instruction item category Specifies whether the item is a packed good or packaging material, or whether it is used for grouping purposes. PackingInstructionItem Unique identification number of an item in a packing instruction or handling unit PackingInstructionItmTargetQty Specifies the quantity that a handling unit for a packing instruction should contain: For packaging materials or packed goods items, this is the quantity to be packed. For subordinate packing instruction items, this is the number of sub-HUs to be packed. For example, you can define that a pallet should contain ten boxes. You can then define in the subordinate packing instruction for this box that each box should contain twenty pieces of a finished product. PackingInstructionItemMinQty Specifies the minimum quantity that a handling unit should contain according to this packing instruction.
