Purpose
This CDS view is designed to provide a structured representation of hierarchy directories within a system. It captures various attributes related to hierarchies, including their validity periods, types, and associated metadata such as creation and last change details. The view also includes associations to text descriptions for hierarchies, enhancing the interpretability of the data. This CDS view provides the data to answer the following business questions: What are the different hierarchies available in the system, and what are their types? What are the validity periods for each hierarchy, and when were they last changed? Who created or last modified a particular hierarchy, and at what date and time? What are the key financial and organizational attributes associated with each hierarchy, such as controlling area, chart of accounts, and financial management area? How are hierarchies related to sales organizations, distribution channels, and divisions? What are the financial statement items linked to each hierarchy, including assets, liabilities, net loss, net profit, and profit and loss items? Is a hierarchy node time-dependent, and are functional areas or semantic tags used within the hierarchy? What language is used for the hierarchy descriptions, and is a group chart of accounts utilized? To help you decide which CDS view to use for your purposes, SAP has introduced the annotation ObjectModel.supportedCapabilities that indicates the most appropriate use cases for each CDS view. To find out what use cases are best supported by this CDS view, access the entry of the CDS view in the View Browser app and find the values for this annotation under the Annotation tab.
